Key highlights of the FARO Zone update include:

  • Convert Photos and Videos to 3D:

Enhanced FotoPoints features seamlessly integrate advanced photogrammetry and new, innovative videogrammetry capabilities, enabling users to easily convert photos and videos from devices like drones and smartphones into precise 3D point clouds. This eliminates the need for third-party software, streamlining the process of creating 3D point clouds and facilitating seamless diagramming and analysis.
  • Ortho Image Creation:

Users can now create ortho images from 3D point clouds directly within the platform. The scaled, high-resolution images generated can be used to measure, annotate, and create a 2D diagram for a crash or crime report.
  • Collision Prediction System:

Utilising the new MassZone platform, investigators can generate multi-vehicle and fixed barrier predictive crash animations. The tool predicts and displays vehicles’ collision paths, tyre marks and damage. The prediction can be compared with the evidence-based crash reconstruction to help validate results.

The update gives users a more comprehensive and interactive view of the scene via 360° panoramic animation, rearview/side mirrors, and backup animation cameras. New features significantly expand the capabilities of Zone, making it an indispensable tool for creating compelling diagrams and delivering impactful presentations in the courtroom. Law enforcement can now download and upload projects directly to Evidence.com. FARO remains committed to empowering forensic professionals with advanced and user-friendly tools.
